Michigan Military Drill With Loud Booms Leaves Residents Angry

FLINT, MI (WNEM) – It was a peaceful afternoon, and then residents said it seemingly turned hostile.

The explosions some Flint residents heard Tuesday, June 2, may sound off in different sections of the city as the U.S. Army performs training exercises over the next 10 days.

More information on the exercises in the city are to be released today, said Randee Farrell, Army spokeswoman. She said the exercises are expected to take place in different parts of the city until they are over June 12.

The specific dates, times and locations of the exercises will not be released, “just based on public safety, so we don’t have a crowd in certain areas for the safety of the officers and the military personnel,” she said.
